Dr. Cowell Answers your Questions about Chiropractic care.
Q. What is Chiropractic?
A. Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts based upon the understanding that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system (especially the spine, and the nerves extending from the spine to all parts of the body). Chiropractic stresses the idea that the cause of many disease processes begins with the body's inability to adapt to its environment. It looks to address these diseases not by the use of drugs and chemicals, but by locating and adjusting a musculoskeletal area of the body which is functioning improperly. Q. Is Chiropractic safe?
A. Absolutely! Chiropractic adjustments or manipulations are extremely safe. The risk factor is estimated to be in excess of one million to one.
Q. Does Chiropractic hurt?
A. Under normal circumstances, adjustments don't hurt. The patient may experience a minor amount of discomfort during the adjustment which lasts only seconds. Cowell Chiropractic features various types of chiropractic adjustment tables allowing Dr. Cowell even more ways of comfortably relieving your pain.
Q. I’ve been injured and may need X-Rays; will I have to go to a separate facility?
A. Of course not. X-Ray equipment is available for use on the premises.
Q. How do you reach a diagnosis?
A. By utilizing state-of-the-art equipment along with personalized care, Dr. Cowell can identify problems and treat the structural cause of your condition. Muscle testing, surface electromyography, provide a more extensive diagnosis for treatment of your injury.
Q. Can you treat whiplash?
A. Yes, the many symptoms of whiplash can be treated. Whiplash, a serious injury resulting from a sudden jolt to the spinal vertebrae in the upper neck, should not go untreated, as it can start a cycle of pain that brings daily suffering and frustration.
Q. How do you treat whiplash?
A. By locating the spinal abnormality and guiding the misaligned vertebrae back into proper position. This can reduce the pressure on the nerves and stop the cycle of pain. If not corrected, scarring and even arthritic degeneration may develop. Chiropractic adjustments will help prevent arthritic degeneration from advancing further and restore your spine's natural balance.
Q. Do you offer other services?
A. Yes. In addition to the latest in Chiropractic techniques, Cowell Chiropractic offers physical therapy, rehabilitation & massage therapy, neuromuscular massage, Travell Trigger Point examination and treatment, gait analysis, ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, interferential, computerized muscle testing, and electromyograghic evaluation.
Q. Do you accept insurance?
A. Yes. Most insurance plans accepted.
